Since 2010 Fort Bend County has seen a population increase of 7.2%, making it one of the top ten fastest growing large counties according to Forbes. Since 2000, employment has increased 78%, in part due to the expansion of energy companies outside Houston. Fort Bend County is now home to more than 625,000 people living in Fulshear, Katy, Meadows Place, Missouri City, Richmond, Rosenberg, Stafford and Sugar Land. The population of Fort Bend County grew 40% from 2000 to 2010 according to census reports (2000 population 354,452 vs. 2010 population 585,375). 2012 estimates report 200,202 households and 162,846 families residing in the county.
